The location was quite charming and quaint.

Our room had significant heating issues. it was way too cold for our comfort. We expected a better atmosphere during our winter stay, but the heating was only on for a couple of hours each day. The towels provided were insufficient and always damp, which was really uncomfortable given the humidity. To top it off, the shower pressure was terrible, making my bathing experience frustrating at best.

We loved the short 10-minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the stunning views from Calton Hill, making our stay feel like a perfect city escape as we wandered through historic streets.

One towel per person for a four-night stay is ridiculous!!! The heating barely works, and a 16-degree room temperature is just uncomfortable!!! Shower pressure is a joke, and soundproofing is non-existent!!!

The room was warm and cozy, with a nice bathroom that added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service included refilling our coffee and tea, which enhanced our experience. The property was in a quiet location, making it easy to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep, although a 30-minute walk was needed to reach the city center.

The staff were super friendly and helpful! The place is in a key spot, just a short walk to old town. Parking was a bit tricky, but they gave us good tips for finding free street spots. Breakfast was good, but the dining area felt kinda tight.

Warm and cozy stay, but Wi-Fi was spotty. Enjoyed the electric kettle.

We had a really nice time. The owner was super welcoming and even let us check in early. Our room was clean and comfy. The hot shower was just what we needed after a long day. There's a bus stop just a short walk away to get us downtown. Only wish the weather was a bit nicer for our trip.

i had a wonderful stay at bala house. the double room was cozy, comfortable, and clean. it’s just a 3-minute walk to public transport and about a 20-minute stroll to the city center. nadia and her son were fantastic hosts, making us feel very welcome. i would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway.

The lack of clear signage made finding the hotel a bit tricky. a simple announcement on the door would help a lot. Storage space was limited, with no shelving units or sufficient towel supply, leaving the room feeling a touch cramped. the shower pressure was underwhelming, making it difficult to wash thoroughly, and with a few other minor quirks like a detached toilet and lack of a roll holder, it could do with some thoughtful adjustments for comfort.
